Certified NYS Navigators are available to help you enroll through the NY State Health Marketplace the last Thursday of each month in the Town of Webb Board Room at the Visitor Information Center in Old Forge.
Ongoing Morning Yoga - Yoga is now offered as a 10 session punch card. You can go to whichever 10 sessions you choose to attend. You can now also go online and sign up. Yoga has been shown to increase muscle strength, maintain bone integrity, and improve balance, coordination, and mobility. These gentle, therapeutic classes are open to anybody and any age. No Restriction needed. Yoga classes are held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:30 am, and evening classes are offered on Monday and Wednesday starting at 5:30 pm. Sat Oct 26 Pumpkin Throwing Contest - Let's throw some pumpkins in the lake! Invent a device to throw a pumpkin the furthest into the lake. Or come and watch the festivities, and help determine the winner. Trophy for the best throw! All pumpkins supplied. Competitors needed for the First Pumpkin Launching Contest in Old Forge! Everyone who has ever seen a pumpkin needs to be at the Old Forge Lakefront, Saturday, October 26 at 2pm. Who can build a contraption, or invent a system for throwing pumpkins the farthest into Old Forge Pond?
Sat Oct 26 Haunted Forest Halloween Party - Pull out your best costume, get your make-up on and head to View on October 26 for a Haunted Forest Halloween Party from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM. The party will offer free admission to the community and is being co-sponsored by the Central Adirondack Association. There will be a Costume Contest and DJ Colin Clark will be providing music throughout the night. Light appetizers will be available, as well as a cash bar that will include Halloween-themed specialty cocktails. Due to the alcohol at the event, the Halloween Party will be for ages 21 and over. The Haunted Forest Halloween Party will be the first of a series of local community-centric events held at View during the off-season. Fri - Sun Nov 29 - Dec 1 Adirondack Christmas on Main Street - Area clubs, civic group and businesses have planned an unforgettable family experience. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in town and families will be treated to old fashioned horse-drawn wagon rides, tree lighting, a light parade, face painting, Zoo Mobile, pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Candy Cane Hunt, Reindeer Fun Run and more! All free of charge! Additional venues are also available for your enjoyment. Including the Santa Express Train, holiday arts and crafts at View and Ace Hardware. Keep your antlers on from the Reindeer Run, the fun doesn't stop there -- wear your antlers into the special holiday 2pm matinee at the Strand Theater and receive a free small popcorn and 1/2 price matinee.
