Thurs Aug 1 Phoenix Project Dance - 7:30pm at VIEW. Phoenix Project Dance, a nationally recognized dance company, will defy your senses, illuminate your spirit, and blow your mind. Sat Aug 3 Nick Ziobro Live at View - 7:30pm at VIEW. Nick Ziobro is an equity actor, singer, and pianist who is based in New York City. Over the last six years, he has had the opportunity to perform all over the country with his mentor, Michael Feinstein. He has been honored to perform in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, and more. He recently graduated from Rider University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater. $30 adult non-member/$25 member/$20 student. Mon Aug 5 Leader of the Pack: The Ellie Greenwich Musical - 7:30pm at VIEW. This hit Broadway musical retrospective celebrates the doo-wop sounds that skyrocketed to the top of the 60s charts. The story of Ellie’s rise is punctuated with the hit parade of her music: “Chapel of Love,” “Da Doo Ron Ron,” “Be My Baby,” “Hanky Panky,” Do Wah Diddy Diddy,” “And Then He Kissed Me,” and, of course, the title song, “Leader of the Pack.” $25 non-members/$20 members. Tues Aug 6 Music in the Library Gazebo - 4pm at the Old Forge Library. Join us for the first performance of the season! Future performances will be held every 2 weeks throughout the summer. Fri Aug 9 10th Annual Ice Cream Social - 11am - 2pm at Point Park. Come enjoy your favorite ice cream in a handmade bowl at Point Park, in the center of Old Forge across from the Old Forge Hardware Store. Local potters make these one-of-a-kind ceramic bowls in the Meyda Tiffany Lighting Creative Arts Wing at View. Be sure to arrive early! There are many bowls and other ceramic pieces to choose from and plenty of ice cream and toppings at the ready. The pottery will have a range of prices depending upon the choice, from $10 to $25, which includes ice cream. If you choose not to purchase pottery, you may make a donation of $5 and receive an ice cream sundae. This annual event benefits the View and has become a favorite destination for an afternoon ice cream treat with friends and family. Pianist, singer songwriter, comedian - from Irish to Country, Broadway to The Eagles, funny ditties to classical piano solos, Cahal Dunne does it all with style. $25 non-members/$20 members. Thurs Aug 15 Broadway Meets Opera - 7:30pm at VIEW. This 9th Annual event will star Baritone David Pershall and Tenor Matthew White accompanied by Arthur McManus. Pershall has been seen at the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, and Washington National Opera. Mr. White was awarded the Grand Prize of the Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition and1st place in the Deborah Voigt International Vocal Competition. Sat Aug 17 Trio Kisosen - 7:30pm at VIEW. Journey through a summer evening full of virtuosity, passion, romance, and sassy wit as Trio Kisosen performs works of Mendelssohn and Smetana, and the jazzy "Cafe Music" of Schoenfeld. Mon Aug 19 A Doll's House, Part 2 - 7:30pm at VIEW. In this modern addition to a seminal classic, Nora returns to the house she abandoned and the domestic life she thought she had given up forever. But will her family hear her story? Obie Award-winning playwright Lucas Hnath brings his biting wit to this tale of modern motherhood and independence. Wed Aug 21 Bubblemania- 2PM at VIEW. Part of the Family Fun Series, an extremely unique program combining high energy entertainment with artistic achievement, BubbleMania is loaded with visual comedy, quick wit, big band swing music and the untamed, often unbelievable qualities and beauty of spherical liquids. Tues Aug 27 Ray Erickson: Remembering Mirnie Kashiwa - 7:30pm at VIEW. "Remembering Mirnie Kashiwa: A Piano Recital by Raymond Erickson." Mirnie Kashiwa was known for her love of piano music. This concert will include some of her favorite music played by a noted musician and long-time summer resident. Included will be impressionist works by Debussy and Ravel, a set of children's pieces by Vladimir Rebikov, and piano transcriptions of music of Bach. $25 non-members/$20 members.
